ACHIEVERS: Writers read winning entries in Prescott contest

Winners of the 2011 Writing Contest

Winners of the 2011 Writing Contest sponsored by Professional Writers of Prescott, had the opportunity to read their winning pieces at the November 16 meeting held at the Prescott Public Library at 6:00 p.m. Among those reading were: First Place Winner for Nonfiction Lee Reeves who read “No Sad Faces”; Second Place Winner for Nonfiction Robert Carlile who read “Wisteria Candy”; First Place Winner for Fiction Garry Rogers who read “Dinner”; and First Place Winner for Poetry Tom Erdmann who read his poetry series “Salt Cycle”. Other winners were not present for this meeting. Winners received monetary awards for the winning entries.

We want to thank all those who entered the PWP Contest this year and we would like to congratulate all the winners. There was a lot of competition – fine writers and many entries from all over the country. And we’d especially like to thank Nancy Turcich and Tara Fort for running the contest. They did a spectacular job.

Announcement about June Meeting

The PWP meeting for June is for Member Readings. Once again, we’re asking those members who would like to read something from their work to contact me, Susan Lanning at 772-2444 or sblanning@cableone.net . We are giving readers each 10 minutes to read which will give us time for ten readers.

Remember, you’ll be reading your own writing and you’ll only have 10 minutes in order to give as many people a chance to read as possible. So let me know if you’re interested.
