March Meeting Audience Desired: PWP Member Readings
Audience desired! Meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 in the Founders Suite on the lower level of the Prescott Public Library for a Literary Open Mic with the Professional Writers of Prescott (PWP). Up to ten members will read poetry, short stories, novel and nonfiction excerpts. PWP is a network of writers and editors of all genres: poets, novelists, short story writers, journalists, freelancers and essayists, memoirists and creative nonfiction writers, technical and grant writers, and writers for children and young adults, who aim for the highest expression of the writing craft and who are dedicated to sharing expertise with less experienced writers. The readers will include Judith March Davis, Connie Johnson Kramer, and Chris Hoy. Davis is the author of a recently published memoir Pagoda Dreamer (Hillcrest, 2010) which tells the story of her remarkable mother, Dorothy Rowe. Johnson Kramer coauthored her first book Farm Kids, A 1950s Wisconsin Memoir with her sister Dianne, highlighting their Norwegian heritage with humorous vignettes. Hoy is the author of The Elk in the Attic, a children’s book whose sales benefit the Elks Opera House. Hoy is currently writing a play based on the book, which will premiere at the Elks Opera House in October 2010. Also reading are poet Tom Erdmann, Rev. Irene Danon, author of Overcoming Obstacles with Faith, Nancy Turcich, author of Finding My Way: From Paralysis to a Rich, Full Life, and Marilyn Markham, author of Dearest Waiki: Love Letters to an Andean Mystic. Robert Carlile will read a short story, and Elanna Donovan will read a personal essay.
