June Meeting

ARE YOU A PLOTTER OR PANTSER?

Whether you plot your book, or write it by the seat-of-your-pants, outline  your story or just sit down and start typing, Author C. C. Harrison had answers about the advantages and pitfalls of either technique and gave some hints on how to make each method work.

Harrison also answered questions about the people and places that were the inspiration for her novels - The Charmstone, set on the Navajo Indian Reservation in remote Monument Valley, and Running from Strangers, based on her experiences in the child protective services system, to be released in September 2008.

June Networking

We discussed "back story," some techniques for successful backgrounds that don't bog down fiction, and heard from some dynamite storytellers during the June networking meeting.

December 2007 Six-Word Short Story Contest Winners

In December, Prescott Writers dropped their pens and gathered for an evening of members-only holiday relaxation: finger foods and cookies, a performance by Prescott's Mad Women Poets, a wrapped book exchange, and a six-word short story contest:

1st Place: Edith Pitts
- "Felt good. Read newspaper. Felt bad."

2nd Place: Bruce Lanning - "Found Holy Grail. Now what? Stop."

3rd Place: Joe Dibuduo - "Broken-hearted woman seeks experienced repairman."
